The thesis, dissertation, or record of study should contain the following content:

Title Page

The Title Page should include the
  • Title
  • Author Statement
  • Committee Member Names and Positions
  • Department Head Name
  • Graduation Date
  • Major Subject
  • Copyright Notice
The font and point size must match text within the document. Do not include a page number on this page. 


Abstract

The abstract provides a complete, succinct snapshot of the research, addressing its purpose, method, results, and conclusions. Abstracts should be one page maximum -  350 words or fewer for dissertations and records of study and 150 for master’s theses.


Dedication (optional)

Limit to one page.


Acknowledgements (optional)

Limited to four pages.


Contributors and Funding Sources

Mandatory page. In the Contributors section, recognize:
 
  • Faculty chair and committee member contributions
  • Individual student contributions and/or the contributions of others.
In the Funding Source section, note all support provided by the university, or any other source, to conduct your thesis or dissertation research and compilation. If you completed all work without outside financial support, indicate this here. See page 10 of the Guidelines for a sample page.


Nomenclature (Optional)

An optional page in which students list terms or abbreviations that refer to specific concepts, ideas or field-specific jargon.


Table of Contents

The Table of Contents contains the document’s major headings and first level subheadings. Subordination of subheadings should be indicated by indention. Put the word “Page” above the page number column. Include leader dots between listings and page numbers. Double space above and below all major headings. Single space all subheadings. See page 9 of the Guidelines for a sample page. 


List of Tables (if applicable)

Include a list if there are two or more tables in the main body of text. Each table must have a unique title; no two titles may be identical. Include only the first sentence of the table title in the list.


List of Figures (if applicable)

Include a list if there are two or more figures in the main body of text. Each table must have a unique title; no two titles may be identical. Include only the first sentence of the figure title in the list.


References (if not included at the end of each chapter)

Format according to the chosen style guide.


Appendices (if applicable)

Appendices are optional and used for supplementary material. Place them after the reference section. All Appendix pages need to be numbered; page numbers are continued from the last page of the references.

Texas A&M Set to Host Young Scientists Selected to Participate in the 2024 Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting

Per an agreement between the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings and Texas A&M, the university is set to support 21 exceptional undergraduates, graduate students and postdocs, eight of whom are Aggies, to attend the upcoming annual 73rd Nobel Laureate Meeting in Lindau, Germany from June 30 - July 5, 2024. On May 16 and 17, Texas A&M will host these 21 scholars for a pre-Lindau Meeting preparatory workshop. They will be joined by an additional 11 young scientists supported by Amgen, allowing for an intellectual exchange between all 32 individuals.
