2015 Texas A&M 3 Minute Thesis Competition


Texas A&M University held its third annual 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) competition in Spring 2016. To determine who competes in the 3MT Final Competition, a Preliminary Competition took place in mid-January. Thirty-two students participated in the Preliminary Competition and presented before a panel of three judges. Students were given feedback on their presentation from the judges after delivering their three minute thesis.

Eight students were chosen as finalists to compete in the 3 Minute Thesis Final Competition held on Thursday, February 4, 2016. Meet the 2015-2016 TAMU 3MT Finalists here! 

Close to 100 faculty, staff, students and members of the community watched the Final Competition. View photos from the 2015-2016 TAMU 3MT Final Competition . The panel of five judges included a lineup of four prestigious faculty members as well as the President of the Graduate and Professional Student Council. At the Final Competition three awards were given: Winner, Runner-Up and People’s Choice (selected by the audience). Award recipients from both the Master’s and Doctoral categories include:

Mr. Anthony Sperber, Ph.D. student in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, was the 2015-2016 3MT Doctoral Winner and selected by the judges to represent Texas A&M University at the 3MT Regional Competition held at the Conference of Southern Graduate School’s Annual Meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mr. Sperber qualified in preliminary round to repeat his presentation as one of 8 finalists out of 40 competitors representing 36 universities at the CSGS meeting. Although he was not selected as one of the top 3 winners, he represented Texas A&M well with his compelling delivery.
