Overview  

  • After the student uploads their thesis/dissertation/record of study to Vireo, the committee and department must sign the Written Thesis/Dissertation Approval Form.
  • This form, completed in ARCS, is a part of the thesis, dissertation, or record of study submission process.    
  • The Written Thesis/Dissertation Approval Form is not considered complete until all committee members and the department have signed it. Thesis and Dissertation Services will sign the form when the manuscript meets formatting standards and the student is ready to clear for graduation.   
  • There is no proxy approval for the Written Thesis/Dissertation Approval Form.

  1. The Written Thesis/Dissertation Approval Form will not become active in ARCS until the following steps are completed:  
    1. The final exam has been passed.  
    2. The SED and AAUDE surveys(doctoral students only) have been completed, and proof has been uploaded.  
    3. The Copyright and Availability Form has been approved by the Committee Chair. 
  2. Before initiating the Written Thesis/Dissertation Approval Form, the final manuscript of the thesis, dissertation, or record of study must be uploaded to the document submission platform, Vireo. 
  3. In ARCS, verify that the title of your thesis/dissertation/record of study matches the title of the document submitted to Vireo. 
  4. A graduation term may be selected but is not required. 
  5. Acknowledge that you have uploaded your thesis/dissertation/record of study in Vireo. 
  6. Click “Submit” to begin the Written Thesis/Dissertation Approval Form process. 
  7. Please note: The manuscript will be reviewed only if the Written Thesis/Dissertation Approval Form has been completed by the semester’s submission deadline.
