Overview
All international graduate applicants to Texas A&M University must meet the English Language Proficiency Admission Requirement. This may be satisfied through any one of the following:
- Submission of acceptable language test scores.
- Citizenship with certain English-speaking countries.
- A bachelor’s degree or higher (master’s, doctoral, professional practice doctoral, etc.) from an accredited academic institution within the United States.
Some academic units may have additional or higher ELP Admission Requirements. International graduate applicants should contact their prospective academic units directly regarding any program-specific requirements.
For details regarding acceptable English language examinations, submission of required documentation (score reports, transcripts, etc.), and recognized English-speaking countries, please see the “Proof of English Language Proficiency” section of the International Graduate page on the Office of Admissions website.
English Language Proficiency Waivers for Admission
Under extenuating circumstances, an accepted international graduate student may not be able to meet the ELP Admission Requirement to complete the admission process. In these cases, the admitting academic unit may submit an English Language Proficiency Waiver for Admission Request on the student’s behalf.
ELP Waiver for Admission Request Form
ELP Waivers for Admission must be submitted by colleges/schools, departments, or interdisciplinary degree programs through AdobeSign.
