Research Experiences for Undergraduates
RESEARCH EXPERIENCES FOR UNDERGRADUATES
Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) is a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded program hosted by universities across the nation to encourage undergraduate participation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) research. For eight to ten weeks over the summer, grant-funded REU students, who receive both a stipend and housing for the duration of the program, get to experience real-world scientific investigations under the guidance of a faculty mentor.
Undergraduate research training is vital for students considering graduate education in STEM programs. REUs offer a top-quality research experience and give prospective graduate students a clear window into what life as a graduate student is like.
