Overview
The Ph.D. in Health Education prepares students to conduct research in basic and applied health education. Students work closely with faculty in research and service projects to develop skills as independent, ethical researchers and to publish in health education journals. The program uses a transdisciplinary approach to examine how health and wellness are influenced by factors ranging from interpersonal relationships to broader cultural, environmental, and policy contexts.
Why Texas A&M?
The program emphasizes close faculty mentorship and research collaboration while grounding training in the Responsibilities and Competencies for Certified Health Education Specialists developed by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing. Students are trained to understand health within social, structural, and political environments and to become researchers and academicians in the field.
