Overview

The Ph.D. in Hispanic Studies is a residential interdisciplinary program with three concentrations: Visual Cultures, Linguistics, and Literature. The program emphasizes advanced research and analysis of literary, cultural, and linguistic production from the Hispanic world through comparative and interdisciplinary approaches. Students analyze diverse texts across media and genres while exploring global connections within Hispanic cultural and linguistic studies.

The program features close faculty-student collaboration, mentoring, and professional development. It offers five-year funding with the possibility of funded summer teaching, as well as support for conference and research travel. Students receive training and teaching experience in language, literature, and culture, and benefit from dynamic associations with other departments through certificate programs and co-sponsored events.
