Texas A&M’s main campus is located in Bryan-College Station, Texas. The twin cities of Bryan and College Station have served as the adopted hometown for generations of Aggies. LIVING IN BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION
Because of the emphasis that Texas A&M places on research and learning, there are numerous nationally recognized centers, labs and institutes that are part of the academic experience of Texas A&M. These are found at the main campus in Bryan-College Station as well as at branch campuses in Galveston, Texas and Doha, Qatar.
The previous blog post focused on learning from our failures and gearing up for the upcoming semester. This post is specifically directed towards all the incoming graduate students who are excited, nervous and eager to make College Station their new natural habitat. In the next two weeks, flocks of students will land on the shores of Aggieland and they are frantically trying to manage setting up their apartment with a mattress, perhaps a bike for an easy commute, an American bank account and credit card etc. This post is intended to act as a mere guideline for the aforementioned things and isn@t necessarily the global optima of the process. It will also point out some deals and hacks which you ought to know once you come here. @
Our university has a Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE), and in my opinion, it is a must-use resource for all graduate students. Having worked as a graduate teaching consultant and collaborator of multiple CTE programs, I personally benefitted a lot from this experience, and also heard many positive feedbacks from my peers, including both domestic and international graduate students. Whether you@re currently a teaching assistant or an instructor, or you will become one sometime in the future, you should all take advantage of our CTE resources.
Texas A@M football is an experience that you do not want to miss during your time in Aggieland. The tailgate starts early in the morning and is an exciting time to get together with friends and cheer on your Aggies. One unique aspect of Aggie tailgate is that people from across Texas and across the country come to cheer on our boys...
