Overview

The Master of Science (MS) program is designed to provide an advanced business education through research and creativity. The program offers competency-based curriculum, a focus on developing personal skills, opprtunities to specialized in audit or taxation, and preparation to pass the CPA exam.

The program is AACSB-accredited. 


Degree Track Options

There are currently two tracks available when completing this program. The Assurance Services/Information Management Track examines business and accounting concepts from the persepctive of an assurance service professional. This track encourages students  to develop technical, yet common sense asnswers to a variety of accounting situations.

The Tax Consulting/Financial Planning Track provides students with a broad foundation for understanding the taxation of entities and the relationship of taxes to the overall business decision process. Specifically, this track focuses on identifying tax problems, conducting research using the latest databases and interepreting tax code as well as relevant literature. Funding

MS Accounting scholarships are available on a competitive basis. Each spring semester, there is a scholarship application process available to MS Accounting students.
Fifth Year Accounting Student Scholarship Program
The Texas State Board of Public Accountancy provides scholarships annually to students in their fifth year of study who plan to sit for the CPA examination in the State of Texas. This application process occurs in the summer.
Texas Aggie Graduate Grant
The Texas Aggie Graduate Grants are need-based awards for Texas residents. Each student may receive up to $1,500 per semester in the fall and spring and $750 in the summer with a maximum of $3000 annually.
 

Outcomes

Many accounting graduates are employed by public accounting firms that provide assurance, tax and other services to all types of organizations. Other accounting graduates pursue careers with business firms and financial institutions, within all levels of government, and as accounting educators. Our graduates are highly recruited by the Big Four accounting firms, other accounting firms and corporations. The MS Accounting program assists students in preparing and finding employment through our Career Management Center, Professional Development Seminar, Internships, CPA exam prep and administration, and campus recruitment visits by the industry's top companies. 

Students who earn a Master of Science in Accounting find they are in great demand professionally. Our graduates are highly recruited by the Big Four accounting firms, other accounting firms and corporations. The MS Accounting program assists students in preparing and finding employment through the following career services:

Texas A&M Set to Host Young Scientists Selected to Participate in the 2024 Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting

Per an agreement between the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings and Texas A&M, the university is set to support 21 exceptional undergraduates, graduate students and postdocs, eight of whom are Aggies, to attend the upcoming annual 73rd Nobel Laureate Meeting in Lindau, Germany from June 30 - July 5, 2024. On May 16 and 17, Texas A&M will host these 21 scholars for a pre-Lindau Meeting preparatory workshop. They will be joined by an additional 11 young scientists supported by Amgen, allowing for an intellectual exchange between all 32 individuals.
