The Department of Health Promotion and Community Health Sciences promotes healthy living and prepares students to identify the role of biological, behavioral, environmental, and social forces on population health. Our students will have the opportunity to apply these elements when planning and evaluating programs, services and policies designed to improve the health of individuals and communities. Our health promotion and community health students have opportunities to work in a broad and diverse range of organizations. Our students have worked locally, state-wide, nationally and internationally for non-profits, government agencies and corporations in jobs that promote and improve health.

The Master of Public Health (MPH) is a professional master's degree designed to provide practical training in areas related to public health practice. Along with coursework in health promotion and community health sciences, the MPH exposes candidates to the other core public health areas (biostatistics, epidemiology, health policy and management, and environmental health).

Texas A&M Set to Host Young Scientists Selected to Participate in the 2024 Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting

Per an agreement between the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings and Texas A&M, the university is set to support 21 exceptional undergraduates, graduate students and postdocs, eight of whom are Aggies, to attend the upcoming annual 73rd Nobel Laureate Meeting in Lindau, Germany from June 30 - July 5, 2024. On May 16 and 17, Texas A&M will host these 21 scholars for a pre-Lindau Meeting preparatory workshop. They will be joined by an additional 11 young scientists supported by Amgen, allowing for an intellectual exchange between all 32 individuals.
