Graduate Student Pregnant & Parenting Accommodation Recommendations

Texas A&M University is committed to achieving a diverse graduate student body in all areas of research and graduate studies. It is in this spirit that these guidelines promote reasonable accommodations for graduate student experiencing the birth or adoption of a child. This document is to be used as a guideline for students that intent to continue progress towards his/her degree plan and does not serve as an official university policy.

Resisting the Hustle

After talking with seasoned graduate students in my department, I see that most of us carry a sense of urgency regardless of where we are in the program. I was working inefficiently by pushing myself past my wall of productivity to prove to myself that I was working hard to earn my keep. However, after digging a little deeper into the colloquial understanding of the hustle, I see where my rigidly negative view of hustling hindered my ability to make peace with myself.
