Overview

The Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program is a one-year post-doctoral certificate program for General Dentists. This program is designed to permit a greater concentration in the area of clinical experience than those leading to an advanced degree.

Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) is housed within the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry. It is a 12-month program that provides advanced training in clinical dentistry and applied basic sciences. The objectives of the program are to enhance competence and confidence in the various clinical disciplines that are integral components of dentistry. AEGD graduates should have a broader base of knowledge and experience to facilitate judgments in diagnosis, treatment planning, and decision making during treatment.

All courses within this program are taught face-to-face, on campus at the School of Dentistry in Dallas. This program may require off-campus assignments at local, Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex hospitals or dental clinics.

Eligibility and Enrollment

Potential students should apply through the Postdoctoral Application Support Service (PASS). The deadline for application is September 1. Interviews of selected applicants are scheduled in October and November for the class beginning in the summer of the following year.

Applications are accepted from graduates of all American Dental Association (ADA) accredited dental schools, which include both those in the United States and Canada. Successful National Board Dental Examination scores are required
