The MA program in English allows students to develop a knowledge base in a range of literatures and theories by taking a broad range of courses. The English Department prepares students to consider difficult questions facing us in the twenty-first century. Our vibrant, experienced, and dedicated faculty offer courses that engage students' creativity and curiosity and enable them to express ideas in a variety of genres. We consider how literature, rhetoric, creative writing, technical communication, and visual texts affect how we view the world, as well as imagine and act for a better future.

Lea Poellmann delivered the top presentation in Texas A&M University’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT) final. Poellmann’s “Mapping the Hidden Threat to Man’s Best Friend: Heterobilharzia americana in the Southwest,” bested nine other finalists and a record pool of 85 preliminary competitors to earn both the overall title and tops in the doctoral division.
