The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Health Education prepares students to conduct research in basic and applied health education. Graduates may aspire to research-oriented positions in public or higher education and schools of allied health as well as governmental health and/or safety agencies. Graduates of this program are prepared for careers in teaching and research in each of these areas.

The Department of Health Behavior in the School of Public Health offers comprehensive curricula to eliminate health disparities and improve quality of life for persons and communities through individual behavior change, environmental interventions and policy changes. The mission of the School of Public Health is to to transform health through interdisciplinary inquiry, innovative solutions, and to develop leaders through the Aggie tradition of service to engage diverse communities worldwide.

Lea Poellmann delivered the top presentation in Texas A&M University’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT) final. Poellmann’s “Mapping the Hidden Threat to Man’s Best Friend: Heterobilharzia americana in the Southwest,” bested nine other finalists and a record pool of 85 preliminary competitors to earn both the overall title and tops in the doctoral division.
