With Love, From Paris
Just a hop, skip and a train ride later I arrived in Paris, France. When you think of the city of love, you think of being with your significant other. Well, I went with about twenty-four students and I will still call it the city of love. I loved Paris. In Amsterdam, it was calm and quaint but in Paris, it was alive. It smelled like pee, but also took my breath away. Between the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, Notre-Dame, Arc de Triomphe and Palace of Versailles, I felt history come alive. I walked the streets of famous artists like Picasso, visited the Mona Lisa, and walked the hall of mirrors in the royal palace built by Louis XIV. I had espresso at classical bistros and cafes, which did nothing for my coffee addiction. I still needed several teeny tiny cups to stay awake and function. I had a three-course meal at a restaurant featured on the Travel Channel (I can’t tell you which one, but I was told it is a good one) and tasted black pudding. I am one of those people that will eat

Schedule your energy, not time.
We have less hours of energy than hours of time available every day
I commute every week between College Station and San Marcos. I plan to listen to audio books for the two-hour trip. After many trips, I find that I can only remember the first hour's contents and have no idea of the second hour's. Last week, I suddenly realized the mistake that I schedule my available two-hour time instead of my available energy to listen to audiobooks. What I overlooked was that driving consumed my energy as well.

What Brought You to Texas A&M University?
In the academic space of Texas A&M University, I am a second-year doctoral student in the School of Public Health pursuing a Ph.D. in Health Services Research. Pursing a doctorate after entering the work force was honestly not part of my career goals, but my personal life was bringing me back to the Brazos Valley. Let me share this background with you all. My, now, fiancé and I originally met at church during 2013 when I was working on my Master in Public Health at the School of Public Health, but we did not begin dating until 3 years later! We reconnected at our mutual friends’ proposal, December 2015, and during the celebration with our friends and their family, little did I know that we were on the brink of our own fruitful relationship. (He apparently knew from that day!)

Farewell Address
In 1796, George Washington gave a farewell address to the country. Now, 222 years later I am giving my own. While I will not attempt the gravitas of Washington, a recollection of the past semester seems necessary for the future semesters. So, this farewell address of mine recounts the journey of this first semester of graduate school. I feel that it is more of a remembrance address than farewell since I am still in pursuit of my degree. There is a finality in the word farewell and it seems I am just beginning my journey.
