Midterm Musings teaser image

Midterm Musings

Ayushri Jain

Midterm season has arrived once more,
And students everywhere are feeling the tension,
But even for those who have done this before,
There’s still a hint of apprehension.

No matter how many exams you take,
The nerves still manage to creep in,
The anxiety, the butterflies, the uncertainty,
All part of the test-taking spin.

Preparation is the key, of course,
But it is not a guarantee of success,
For even the most well-prepared student,
Can still feel the exam day stress.

Some have studied for weeks on end,
With notes and textbooks as their guide,
While others have left it all to the last minute,
Preferring to wing it and see what they’ll find.

Nerves are running high,
As they walk into the exam hall,
They take a deep breath, remind themselves,
That they are here to give it their all.

Pens and pencils at the ready,
They read the questions with care,
Their minds filled with information,
That they’ve worked so hard to prepare.

Some begin to scribble quickly,
Their thoughts overflowing with facts and flair,
While others stare at the ceiling,
As if answers might be hanging in the air.

Some keep their heads down,
Working hard till the very end,
While others glance around the room,
Hoping to see a familiar friend.

The tension in the air is palpable,
As the minutes tick slowly by,
Some students start to sweat profusely,
While others simply let out a sigh.

Heart racing, palms sweating,
They keep pushing through the test,
Till finally, the bell rings loud,
Signaling the end of the quest.

Leaving the exam hall behind,
They breathe a sigh of relief,
Some discuss the answers eagerly,
While others feel only grief.

But no matter the result we get,
We know that we gave it our all,
And with a newfound determination,
We’ll be ready for the next one, come fall.

So here’s to the students, brave and bold,
Who have faced the midterm with grit and grace,
May your efforts be rewarded tenfold,
And success be yours in every case!
