Running On-Campus teaser image
Howdy!

Have you ever felt like going for a run on campus? Well luckily I am one of the few graduate students who gets the opportunity to live on-campus and I have some tips for you.

  1. Coldest drinking fountain on-campus is in Koldus near the VPSA Office
  2. Want to get some outdoor exercise, head over to Spence Park for some pull up bars and monkey bars
  3. Best two-mile loop is around the Campus Golf Course (While running parallel to Texas Ave, check out the view of campus)
  4. The 4 corners run is Texas Avenue, George Bush, Wellborn, University and this is about 4.34 miles
  5. A dusk run through campus is my favorite, especially if you go around the Albritton Bell Tower and Kyle Field

If you have any other tips or want to get a run in, let me know! smetzmaker@tamu.edu
Until next time, this Minnesotan is still trying to figure out Texas.

Take care,

Resisting the Hustle

After talking with seasoned graduate students in my department, I see that most of us carry a sense of urgency regardless of where we are in the program. I was working inefficiently by pushing myself past my wall of productivity to prove to myself that I was working hard to earn my keep. However, after digging a little deeper into the colloquial understanding of the hustle, I see where my rigidly negative view of hustling hindered my ability to make peace with myself.
