Visit the MSC Galleries Now

It was just another day filled with classes, assignments, and projects. I found myself walking through the halls of MSC, where creativity whispered from the art galleries which always seemed mysterious and far-off, with their puzzling messages and strange shapes. Silhouettes Selfies, The Toll of Texas Roads on Turtles and Snakes, The Art of Texas State Parks, What Lies Beneath... each exhibition had its own story calling out to me. I decided to check out “Silhouettes & Selfies” first. As someone not so experienced with selfies, I couldn’t help but laugh nervously at the idea of posing next to those shadowy figures. But when I stepped into the pretend bistro scene, something changed. Suddenly, I felt like I was really having coffee with a friend, frozen forever in a happy moment. It was fun, it felt real, and for the first time, I felt like I belonged in the art world. After that, I went to “The Toll of Texas Roads on Turtles and Snakes.” I never thought roads could be so tough on our reptile buddies. Through pictures and art, the exhibition showed me the tough times these delicate animals face. It made me realize the unseen struggles happening during our everyday drives. Then there was “The Art of Texas State Parks.” As someone who loves nature, this exhibit felt like a warm hug. The paintings showed off the beautiful landscapes of Texas parks, from rugged mountains to calm coastlines. It was a reminder to appreciate and take care of our natural world. But the most interesting one was “What Lies Beneath.” Using special photos and scans, the Forsyth Galleries dug into the secrets hidden in paintings and artifacts. It felt like peeking into history’s backstage, discovering stories that had been forgotten. Leaving the galleries, I felt different. Art wasn’t just something far away anymore, it was part of everyday life. Each exhibition left a mark on me, making me appreciate the beauty and complexity of the world around me even more. So, if you ever find yourself wandering around MSC, take a moment to visit these galleries. Let yourself get lost in them, take your time, and I promise, you won’t regret it. Who knows, like me, you might find a whole new world waiting to be explored.
