If the faculty member you have nominated has been approved in the Graduate Committee Faculty system, and they appear in the Graduate Committee Faculty Search, but they are not appearing in the Document Processing Submission System, the issue is most likely related to the e-mail we have on file for the faculty member. To appear in the Document Processing Submission System the individual must have a @tamu.edu e-mail and must publish this address to the TAMU Directory.

All petitions are filed through DPSS.

A long-form petition allows a student to request changes to the following:

• Coursework changes
• Committee changes
• Extensions of time limits on coursework validity, preliminary examination results, and final examination results
• Waivers and exceptions to published university rules. This can include waiving the residency requirement based on full-time employment or requesting a leave of absence.

Additionally, a Change in Major, Department, or Degree Program (MDD) petition allows a student to request changes to their curriculum. Changes in level will only take effect before the census date of each semester.

Petitions are processed in the order that they are received. We make every effort to process all petitions as quickly as possible. Generally, it can take up to 15 business days for a petition to be processed once it has routed to the Grad School (OGS status) for review. Please keep in mind that petitions go through the same pre-Graduate & Professional School approval route as degree plans. Once your petition has been approved, or if it is returned for some reason, you will receive an email to your official university email address.
