Learn About a New Club That Will Help You Land a Job in Product Management teaser image
When companies release new products it takes a large team of people to get from idea to launch, and it doesn't happen easily. Product managers are the people who guide the process from start to finish. A product manager must be fluent in engineering and business areas to help guide and coordinate the tasks involved in launching a product. In order to help students learn the skills needed to become a product manager, we created the Aggie Product Management Club. APMC is a club for aspiring product managers to gain their footing in the industry. We will have industry speakers, practice interviews, and review materials that will help you gain the knowledge needed to land a job as a PM. Our first club meeting is Wednesday, November 6th at 6:30pm in Wehner Room 103. Come join us to hear about everything APMC has to offer you on your way to becoming a PM.

As a member of the College of Architecture Diversity Council, I always think about how my own work and our Diversity Council as a platform can contribute to a more diverse, inclusive, and welcoming campus climate for my fellow Aggies and everyone else in our campus community. Last year, a representative from the Graduate and Professional Student Council (GPSC, now GPSG) brought a new idea to our Council meeting and we were able to support their idea by sponsoring some materials. This year, we borrowed that idea and expanded it to an even larger scale so that more people can participate and benefit from it.

That one time I worked at Disney World

It is probably safe to assume that most of you have had at least one terrible job under your belt, probably some summer job as an undergraduate. I want to tell you about the best terrible job I ever had – working at the MGM studios at Disney world. During my freshman year of college, I saw these colorful flyers posted all over campus: “Disney college program informational session: join us to discuss this paid internship!!”. I was about 5 years old, the first time my parents took me to Disneyland. Even then, I remember thinking that working at Disney had to be the best job ever, and that when I grew up I was going to go there and find a job. Of course, by the time I started college I had forgotten about my “dream” of working at Disney and it wasn’t one of my life goals anymore. But when I saw that flyer, I just knew I had to do it!

Aggies Invent

Aggies Invent competition does not disappoint. It is a 48-hour long competition where students of various backgrounds work together to come up with a prototype to solve a problem. You will have access to all the resources at the Engineering Innovation Center (EIC) --- which is pretty much an engineer’s candy-shop; it is loaded with 3D printers, machining tools, electrical tools, motors, sensors, and so much more --- Oh, and you will have access to some incredible mentors!...

Say 'Yes' and Follow Him

I enrolled at The Bush School of Government and Public Service to pursue my academic interests in non-profit management and public administration. While the program curriculum included required courses related to public policy, I was interested in the courses that focused on organizational behaviour and diversity in the non-profit sector. I steered away from political issues and focused on the services provided to particular groups. For example, I researched the needs of individuals on the autism spectrum and women who were professionally mistreated based on their gender. 
But earlier this year, I was accepted into an exchange program developed by Texas A&M and Swansea University that provided the opportunity to study abroad and complete a professional internship in Wales. The coursework was classified as International Relations and involved a heavy focus on international policy and governance.
